DEAR ABBY: we retired 5 years ago. We have adequate savings as well as an pension that is excellent us to live easily.
We used a hobby 3 years ago that generates about $5,000 in yearly earnings, that I put away in a separate banking account. My spouse asked, “what exactly are you saving that money for? ” I stated why not a classic vehicle, assisting with a family group reunion ( to my part), etc. She responded, “We must be on the exact same page about how it gets spent because half of it really is mine. ”
He sided with her because (legally) half of what I have is hers when I reached out to my son for his insight. We have not a problem consulting along with her on a significant expenditure appearing out of our other cost savings, but with this one I feel she’s controlling and petty. Your ideas?
